March 30, 1982: Leelanau Peninsula AVA was certified and established. In Leelanau County, Michigan, the viticultural area is only able to produce grapes during a narrow window – for nearly 2/3 of the calendar year. Attempting to plant during frost conditions are impossible, making the harvest nearly impossible.
March 30, 2007: Pasadena Grand Pinot Fest was first celebrated. Californians have the chance to engage in some friendly competition with their neighbor to the north during PinotFest. One can sample wines from a variety of American Viticultural Areas and discover more about the microclimates and winemaking techniques used on the West Coast.
