March 30, 1982: On this day, Leelanau Peninsula AVA was certified and established. In Leelanau County, Michigan, the viticultural area is only able to produce grapes during a narrow window – for nearly 2/3 of the calendar year.  Attempting to plant during frost conditions are impossible, making the harvest nearly impossible.

March 30, 2007: On this day, Pasadena Grand Pinot Fest was first celebrated. Californians have the chance to engage in some friendly competition with their neighbor to the north during PinotFest. One can sample wines from a variety of American Viticultural Areas and discover more about the microclimates and winemaking techniques used on the West Coast.
