1987 - Theodora Lee founded her vineyard
Theopolis Vineyards was established in 2003 by Ms. Theodora Lee, a senior partner and trial attorney at Littler. Ms. Lee is referred to as Theo-patra, Queen of the Vineyards in the wine industry. She developed a taste for wine shortly after moving to San Francisco from Texas in 1987, largely as a result of the impact of the mentors at her legal company, many of whom owned vineyards. As a result, Ms. Lee decided to start her own vineyard after enrolling in multiple viticulture courses at UC Davis. Ms. Lee started building her vineyard in the Yorkville Highlands of Anderson Valley in 2001 after buying sheep pasture there. This process involved terracing the site, drilling an agricultural well, conducting soil testing, obtaining licenses to remove some trees, and clearing the ground. Ms. Lee finally planted her five-acre vineyard in 2003. Ms. Lee founded Theopolis Vineyards and took on her Greek name after joining Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
