1933 - 1945 - The impact of World War Two on Sonoma wine

French wine imports were prohibited during World War II, which assisted Sonoma County wineries in steadily growing and reviving. A large portion of new production went into bulk wines. WWII was a major blow to most industries, including the wine sector. However, this one aspect of it helped small Sonoma wineries to dominate the local markets thus recovering well from the just-ended prohibition.
