Sour Grapes, a popular wine documentary was realsed

2016 - Sour Grapes, a popular wine documentary was realsed

Prior to the revelation of the reality, Rudy Kurniawan’s cellar was regarded as one of the best in the world. Kurniawan, alias “Dr Conti,” gained $35 million at two historic wine auctions in 2006. Two years later, Kurniawan was busted by Laurent Ponsot of Burgundy’s Domaine Ponsot for marketing wine vintages that had never actually been made. Sour Grapes traces the rise and fall of the largest wine fraudster in history, who is alleged to have flooded the market with as many as 10,000 phony bottles and is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence. The film relies on interviews with FBI agents, wine collectors, manufacturers, and auctioneers.
