1224 - French king organized first international wine tasting competition

First worldwide wine tasting competition was arranged by the French king. Cypriot wine came out on top. An English Priest tried and evaluated more than 70 different wines from France and other parts of Europe. The designation of “Apostle” was given to the winning wine from Cyprus.
