1839 - First plantings in Napa Valley

George Calvert Yount planted the first vineyard in 1839. Later, additional early settlers including John Patchett and Hamilton Walker Crabb assisted in bringing the first vitis vinifera grapes to the region. John Patchett, Dr. George Crane, and Hamilton Walker Crabb were a few of the early pioneers.
