September 30, 2014: On this day, the movie Barolo Boys was released. The Barolo Boys, a group of small independent winemakers, “upset the quiet world of the Piedmontese countryside and brought about a revolution in Italian wine, igniting a fierce controversy between different generations and different ways of thinking,” according to this documentary about the history of winemaking in Italy’s northwest region Langhe (Barolo Boys website). It won and/or was nominated for a wide array of awards.

September 30, 2020: On this day, “Colomé Tannat Special Lot 2018” by Argentinian producer Bodega Colomé was recognized as one of the 5 best wines in the world by Decanter Magazine. In addition to its socially and ecologically responsible approach to winemaking, Bodega Colomé is notable for being one of the highest-altitude vineyards in the world. It was acquired in 2001 by wine entrepreneurs Donald and Ursula Hess.
