September 19, 1960: Mario Francesco Batali, an American chef, writer, and restaurateur, was born. He ran a wide range of Italian wine and food establishments with Joe Bastianich, as part of the Batali and Bastianich Hospitality Group. In addition, he was a common face on television through shows such as Iron Chef America.
