March 5, 1133: Henry II of England, also known as Henry Plantagenet, was born on this day. He ruled over England between 1154 and 1189 before his death. Bordeaux wine was served at the royal wedding of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine, the heir to the Duchy of Aquitaine. This event brought the Bordeaux wine region into the spotlight, and since then, the region has grown into a city and started exporting its wine to England in 1302.
March 5, 1949: On this day, Bernard Arnault was born. Arnault is the CEO of LVMH Moët-Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE, the world’s most successful luxury goods firm, with several alcoholic beverage and wine subsidiaries including Mot et Chandon and Château Yquem.
