He founded the insurance company Axa-Millésimes, which works with wineries and estates, and he also owns several estates, including Villa Bel-Air, Domaine de L’Ostal, and Domaine des Sénéchaux. Cazes is also the president of the Pauillac winegrowers’ union and holds or held directorship positions with other wine industry organizations.
March 25, 1993: On this day, Melbourne Food & Wine Festival was launched. The festival seeks to celebrate the vibrant food and wine culture within Melbourne, and Victoria generally.
March 25, 1994: Hames Valley AVA was established. This viticultural area is located in the Santa Lucia Range foothills in Monterey County. The appellation encompasses 10000 acres of land with 2000 acres under vines. Hames Valley experiences dramatic shifts in temperatures during day and night, producing grapes with intense and bold flavors. The AVA’s terroir is suitable for Rhone-style varietals.
