March 22, 1948: Andrew Lloyd Webber was born. Webber is an English musical theater composer, a household name amongst those who are familiar with the stage. He has been a fervent wine collector for most of his life. In 2011 he sold over 8,800 bottles of wine at auction for $5.6 million.
March 22, 1933: As soon as Franklin D. Roosevelt took office, he signed into law the Cullen-Harrison Act, which amended the Volstead Act to legalize the sale of beer and wine with an alcohol content of 3.2% or less by weight. It took effect on April 7, 1933, and marked an early step toward the full repeal of Prohibition later that year.
