March 18, 1909: On this day, Ernest J. Gallo was born. Gallo is famed for co-founding E. & J. Gallo Winery with his brother Julio, following in the footsteps of his father who ran a wine distribution company. The winery is not only the largest family-owned winery in the U.S., but also the greatest exporter of wine from California.
March 18, 1972: On this day, Andreas Larsson was born in Sweden. Professional sommelier Larsson won the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale’s 2007 Best Sommelier of the World award.
