June 10, 1959: Alberto Antonini was born. Antonini is a learned oenologist who has contributed to the global culture of wine. He is widely acknowledged as having contributed to the popularity of Argentine Malbec on a global scale. His work also focuses on encouraging winemakers in colonized regions to use their indigenous varietals and farming methods to cultivate their wine culture, rather than rely on the hegemonic knowledge of French wines.
