July 19, 1940: On this day, in the history: Nicolas Belfrage, the first certified Master of Wine was born in Los Angeles, California. Nicolas is renowned for becoming the first Master of Wine to be accredited in America. He was specialized on Italian wines and has written for a majority of the big name publications on Wine, such as Tom Stevenson’s Wine Report and Decanter.
