December 8, 2004: The Southern Oregon American Viticultural Area was established, an umbrella appellation uniting the Umpqua and Rogue Valley regions of southern Oregon and their warmer-climate grapes, from Tempranillo to Syrah.December 8, 2009: The Calistoga American Viticultural Area was established at the northern end of the Napa Valley, a warm district framed by the Mayacamas and Palisade ranges and long associated with powerful Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel.December 8, 2020: Tasting Victory: The Life and Wines of the World’s Favourite Sommelier was published. Written by the legendary Master of Wine and Master Sommelier Gerard Basset, the book is filled with his memories, career wisdom, and life story.

December 8, 2009: The Calistoga AVA is established at the warm northern end of the Napa Valley in Napa County, California, an area of large diurnal temperature swings favored for Cabernet Sauvignon.
