December 20, 2002: The Capay Valley American Viticultural Area was established in northwestern Yolo County, California. A small, warm inland valley northwest of Sacramento, it is planted largely to Rhône and Mediterranean varieties such as Syrah, Grenache, and Viognier.For more dates in wine history, click here.
