December 10, 1830: Emily Dickinson was born. She is regarded as one of the greatest American poets and one of the most original poets of all time. She wrote the poem, “I bring an unaccustomed wine.”

December 10, 1926: The Diário do Governo, 1st Series regulation, which confirmed the delineated Vinho Verde region’s boundaries and made Penafiel a new sub-region as well as making minor alterations to the region’s size from what had been established in 1908, was published. The Comisso de Viticultura da Regio dos Vinhos Verdes (CVRVV) was established as an interprofessional entity with representatives of the farmers and traders, and the Regulamento da Produço e Comércio dos Vinhos Verdes (Production and Vinho Verde Trade Regulation) approved the delineated region’s statutes, defined its geographical borders, described its wines, and defined production rules and production, origin, and trade certificates.
